Temples are my favourite places. I have no religious leanings- God for me is each one's personal perspective. He may or may not abode in temples, that is entirely your personal view. Yet, temples are my favourite places; specifically the temples of Kerala with their huge open spaces, temple ponds and the view of the Deity, lit up with glowing lamps inside the sanctum, from afar has a very soothing, peaceful feeling to it.
As I stand palms folded, head bowed transfixed by the sight, I am transported to another world, where it is just me and the distant rings of temple bells. I feel the beauty of the glowing lamps blend into me, making my soul sparkle in its wake. Slowly the distant beats of the heavenly idakka accompanying the sopanam floats into my senses, mesmerizing me.
I stand there- suspended in space and time; the first soul to have emerged; I am the beginning of Shrishti, in humble adoration before my Lord, soaking in his divine Grace.
